The Little Problem
By: David
Jim and his friends are playing Marco-Polo. Jim is it. Jim’s friend Lee is over by a big wave. Lee moves and Jim is now by Lee’s old spot. All of a sudden, Jim gets hit by a wave. The lifeguard jumps into the water as fast as he can. All of Jim’s friends watch as the lifeguard pulls Jim to shore. The ambulance comes. They load Jim into the truck and take him to the hospital. Jim’s mom and dad come to pick him up. But, Jim has to stay over night. The next day, Jim’s mom and dad come to pick him up. Jim is all better because the lifeguard and ambulance workers are courageous.
How can we help each other in dangerous situations? Students explored this question in our new Reading Street books! Throughout the week, we read and wrote about courageous rescue workers. To demonstrate their understanding, students wrote a paragraph highlighting dangerous situations and the rescue workers who help. Can you find the use of amazing words in the writing?
